My guess is, whatever support there is for him and his ‘model’, there’s now simply too much dirt out there for the Party to avoid an investigation. In which case, the case of corrupt former Beijing mayor Chen Xitong provides a useful exemplar. The interesting difference here is that Bo has lots of chums in the PLA, an arm of the CCP where Hu and Wen have never had much credibility.
