I am polite, of course, saying “Good day!” back in one of those languages. The mother asks, “What did he say?” and the child answers, “I don’t know.”

I can hardly hide my glee when the exchange is followed with critical words or a light spanking since the child “didn’t study enough.”

There may be ~5.6 billion foreigners out there, but China quickly forgets that for ~4 billion of them, English is not the primary spoken language. A white face is not be an indicator of English ability.
