I felt uneasy about the line don mentions, too.

About the whole case, it’s tough when no organization can be trusted, basically – even the Red Cross in China had its scandal, I seem to remember. I think my personal decision would always depend on my hunches in every single case, but generally, I’d go along with this line of yours:
how do we trust? Perhaps by convincing ourselves that to be duped is a worthy risk. Even if one is duped, at least it does no real harm. And the desire to do something good in the face of atrocities seems to have value, even if the wrong people should benefit.

People read the news and wanted to help. That’s a good thing, and they shouldn’t feel bad about it now.

Good synopsis, Mr. Tao. You raise a legitimate moral dilemma that I see come up more and more in today’s society.

However, I think you should re-word this phrase because it comes off unintentionally callous, given the circumstances that afflicted Du Chuanwang:

“…it’s a lot of pressure to put on a 13-year-old boy.”
