http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y3CVmM0UfFw&feature=plcp

Here is a video that's pretty clear. Ai Weiwei does actually participate and throws some sort of shove/punch.

It may be a cultural thing but China's a politically apathetic place. Everyone cares about "passing the days" and the dangerous climate for dissidents selects only the eccentrics for leaders, which is sad.

As an expat (sort of), it's always sad to see an iconic reformist get caught up in this kind of thing.

On the hand, a political science professor (euphemism for CCP spokesman, brown-noser) accepting a "challenge" from a netizen and getting caught up in this kind of farce, not at all surprising.

I don't think there's ever a claim that he's a 50 center. It says specifically that those are allegations. That's also obviously not the central point of the article. I don't think RFH cares whether Wu is receiving funding from the CCP. The article just finds irony in the fact that he was blocked, and then the reference of tolerance over freedom. Pretty sure Hu Shi never considered censorship as something to be tolerated. Of course the appeal later that Sina didn't censor the other side is quite amusing as well.

Wu Fatian: Don't worry. This will be a war of words, not a war of force. I guarantee that I will go, I guarantee that I will hold a rational debate and I guarantee that I will not fight with a woman. I will discuss all the controversial topics. I think RFH should be really ashamed of himself. Just spreading lies, lies and lies all in the name of so called "democracy". It is people like you who give western democracy support a bad name.
