Even more oddly, the Cenotaph was further amended in the 70s to better reflect our shared evolving history with the addition of Chinese characters. Of course, this reflects on the Japanese occupation – which clearly impacted the lives of not only the ‘British’ (whatever that means in his context), but Chinese and others too (and not just the rascal BNO British either, also the thousands upon thousands of refugees that were here under the touch-base policy… I’m getting all worked up, so let me digress. Oddly enough the cenotaph commemorates those who fell during the Second World War in addition to the Great War, of which HK island and Kowloon where front lines. Obviously Ko is taken on one lesson too many from the mainland on the application of historical revisionism from his mainland comrades.

If successful, this means the shanzhai monuments in Shenzhen and beyond like faux-Eiffel Tower and faux-L’arc de Triomphe can conceivably attain official status and knock down the originals to complete the revenge upon foreign powers for stealing Chinese artifacts.
