So what is the deal with this Chinese show being bought by a "major US network?" Anyone find out the source or what the "major network" is? Because I find it extremely difficult (like, impossible) to believe that a "major network" thinks that a Chinese palace drama is what American mainstream audiences want to watch. No sources that I have seen in English or Chinese have named a network. It's already very rare for US networks to important shows, why would they choose something so utterly unrelatable? I might buy that SOME network has bought the rights, but at most it has to be a niche cable channel or something, probably aimed at Asian-Americans.

I looked at the show(后宫甄嬛传) on Youtube. At a glance, there doesn't seem to be anything to distinguish it from the 15 million other shows like this that would explain why anyone would think that Americans would be eager for something like this.
