Why is it that I only hear about people literally dying from marathon gaming sessions in Asia? Does the more mainstream nature of nerddom mean that more people are doing this for longer? Are too many parents just too meek to intervene? (My brother-in-law is coming up on 30; nice kid, but poor social skills, no significant employment history, plays games all night, lives with parents. By a lot of standards my parents could be said to have coddled me, but I would've been out on my ass at if I had been such a sponge at 20, let alone 30.) Or are these guys mainly dying in internet cafes, thereby garnering more publicity than western WoW freaks who for all I know may be suffering the same fate but in the privacy of their homes?
