I think so too. He is facing some serious prison time, so why not flee?

Although we can always hope he gets caught in that act, that way he goes to jail and the 2 mil is forfeited.

Leaving is pretty damned easy. It doesn’t take any serious maneuvering at all.
Go to embassy, get travel permit.
Go to any friendly country on a private jet, ideally without the name on the manifest
From there go onwards to China as normal.

China ain’t gonna say shit about issuing a travel permit
Private flight to a 3rd country won’t raise any flags.
3rd country ain’t gonna say shit to the US either.

It’s stupidly easy to flee from the US.
