Even if they did know, would they care? Where is the sense of right and wrong in China?
When the Forbidden City is covered in garbage, you get the sense that really, nothing is sacred in China. Certainly ripping off some 老外 who composed/designed this intro for some show that’s popular in America, is very very low on the list of priorities.

NBA Games broadcast in China are just ripped ABC/NBC feeds, which are muted and then the Chinese voiceover the play-by-play. It gets a little weird when Charles Barkely starts speaking Mandarin, then they cut the feed, and go to the 2 know-nothings in Beijing brought to your by HAIER.

Of note is that Shanghai Media Group have been using the theme tune to Star Trek: Deep Space 9 on their ads. Smart money is on them not having paid for it.

God, no wonder the Chinese often seem unclear on the difference between ripoff, homage, and parody…. I can’t even tell which is which in China sometimes.
