		<description><![CDATA[Weixin censorship has been well underway for quite some time in Xinjiang, where for the last year there have been regular stories about people disappearing because of sensitive (usually religious) messages they posted or forwarded or just happened to save to Favorites. Some workplaces and institutes of higher education are rumored to have special satellites set up to intercept and read all messages sent within campus grounds, and police can jump in swiftly to punish anyone deemed to be sharing things that are &quot;improper.&quot; Weixin has gotten to be such a serious and punishable issue in southern Xinjiang (especially for Uyghur men, who are routinely seen as the most dangerous by certain governing bodies) that there is a revived market for old Nokias and other &quot;dumb phones,&quot; which provide ways of circumventing intrusive Weixin checks on smartphones when going through any one of the myriad checkpoints one can encounter in the south.]]></description>
