Story: on Saturday, a dude in Zhumadian, Henan province reportedly accidentally sat on a rake while drunk, which (if you believe the story) officially makes his drinking story better than yours. The 37-year-old needed four hours of surgery to have the 28-centimeter handle removed from his anus. We’re not sure how the chainsaw played a part.

The man seems to be okay, though he remains under observation for infections.

Yesterday, we saw a CGI reenactment of a man in Anyang, Henan province randomly stabbing 15 people on a bus on Tuesday. Today, we have real-life footage from outside, and it’s much more harrowing: passengers scramble away, but some turn back around to help out the injured.

The attacker got out of the same bus — you might even see him if you know where to look — and fled.

Three people, ages 18, 10, and 10-and-a-half months, would die. The suspect was captured on Wednesday while trying to buy watermelon.

The manhunt in Anyang, Henan province is over. Police have reportedly detained the man wanted for indiscriminately killing three people — all of them very young — and injuring a dozen more on a bus yesterday. Reports are the man was recognized while trying to buy a watermelon.

The suspect is reportedly from Neihuang county in Anyang, and has a criminal record.

Yesterday around 3:05 pm, he boarded a bus with 33 passengers. (You can watch the CGI reenactment in the video above.) After moving to the front and causing the bus driver to sideswipe another vehicle, he took out two knives and began randomly stabbing those around him.

The driver opened the front and back doors to allow the passengers to flee.

The three who died were tragically young: 18-year-old and 10-year-old boys, and a 10-and-a-half-month-old girl.

We don’t expect the suspect to remain in detention for long. His death sentence will be swift and prompt.

On Monday at 3:05 pm, a bus in Anyang, Henan province was the scene of a knife attack that resulted in two deaths.

A man reportedly pulled out his knife and robbed several people in their seats. Fifteen people were injured and two fatally stabbed. More than 400 officers were scrambled to the scene.

“The police is rounding up the suspect and has offered 100,000 RMB reward for his capture,” reports CCTV.

UPDATE, 11:52 am: A 10-and-a-half-month old girl has died at the hospital, bringing the death count up to three. There were 33 passengers on the bus.

The suspect is believed to be 27 years old, about 1.65 meters tall:

Last month in Linzhou, Henan province, an off-duty police officer reportedly snatched a baby from the arms of a man, raised her above his head, and threw her to the ground — all because he had made a bet with his drunken friends that the child was a doll.

It was not a doll. She was Yueyue, who suffered three head fractures and will probably live with the effects of this assault for the rest of her life.

Horrifying as that sounds, try this: the officer, Guo Zengxi, around 50 years old, reportedly only got 15 days of detention before being released.

The incident happened near a karaoke parlor on the evening of July 20. The baby’s father, Li Qingfeng, said that about a hundred people surrounded Guo after he threw Yueyue to the ground. Li, who was with his wife, quickly rushed his daughter to the nearest hospital.

The incident was brought to light during an NPC meeting when Linzhou Standing Committee head Di Jianzhou called the incident, “Outrageous, outrageous.”

Police say they have surveillance footage of the incident, which “clearly” shows Guo slamming the toddler. They have also issued a statement that Guo will be punished accordingly, because first-degree assault on defenseless toddlers is some crazy goddamn shit.

Also last month, a two-year-old was killed in Beijing after a parking dispute when a man threw her to the curb.

UPDATE, 8/20, 1 pm: Guo has been detained, again, on Saturday “on suspicion of intentional injury,” according to Xinhua. Also, three officials were suspended for incompetence:

Three senior officials were suspended from their posts at Linzhou Public Security Bureau in central China’s Henan Province on Monday after a policeman allegedly attacked a baby girl after drinking alcohol.

The bureau chief, political commissar and deputy secretary of the bureau’s committee of Communist Party of China have been suspended, said an official with the Public Security Bureau of Anyang City, which governs Linzhou.

Local residents say since Spring Festival  (February 10) this year they have seen white muddy things in the water after it is boiled, and the water looks like soy milk, the Dahe Daily report said. On Monday, residents found the water in the river was dark, and reported it to the city’s environmental protection bureau.

After receiving complaints from local residents, Yang Guozhi, a deputy mayor of the city, held an emergency meeting on Monday, and decided to buy 5 million tons of water from the upstream Yanshan Reservoir that will be diverted into the river.

A senior official from the city’s environmental protection bureau told the Dahe Daily that water levels in the Lihe River are low at this time of year and an upstream reservoir has caused the river to almost dry up. “The temperature is high and the river water does not flow, which lowers the river’s water replacement and self-purification capacity. That is the major reason the water is dark.”

The cause is lots of groundwater, apparently. Gross.

River like ‘soy sauce’: residents (Global Times, h/t Alicia)

A series of photographs taken in a high-speed traffic tunnel in Zhengzhou, Henan province is currently trending on Weibo. The photos depict a stylishly dressed, stoic young man riding a hot pink scooter on its back wheel in the middle of traffic. He’s been dubbed the “Pink Scooter Brother.” The photos’ popularity seems drawn in equal parts from the subject, the bike itself, and the danger and absurdity of the situation.

Netizen “good boy” snapped a picture inside the Zhengzhou’s Jing-Guang High-Speed Tunnel. It shows a man riding a pink motorcycle, the front wheel lifted off the ground, relying only on the back wheel to drive. “As you can see from the linked photos, he popped a wheelie for a really long time, allowing nearby drivers time to take photos.”

So far, reactions to the above piece are mixed. Many users are reacting to the obvious danger and irresponsibility of the maneuver — past motorcycle stunts on public roads have elicited similar safety concerns – but others seem taken by the rider’s undeniable swag.

Let’s just hope we don’t see Pink Scooter Brother again in the obituaries.

On the evening of February 15, a university student in Kaifeng, Henan province tried to scalp his mom and dad at a traditional Chinese medicine hospital, according to NetEase. How antiquated is that?

It was a bad Spring Festival for the Zhou family. On February 10, young Zhou got into a money dispute with his parents and wounded his father with a knife in the process. Five days later, his mom was visiting his father in the hospital when Zhou attacked again. This time, we’re told, he stabbed his mother and then tried to remove her scalp.

The mother is currently in a coma in the intensive care unit.

The father, interviewed in the below video, said he had a tendon in his hand severed. He described how a large chunk of his wife’s head was pared off — while she was alive.

A family relative says the child doesn’t usually keep in touch, but whenever he returns home, he asks for money. That was perhaps the cause of the dispute: the father wanted his son to be self-reliant.

It’s a heartbreaking story: the parents (and entire family, probably) work to send their child to college, only to see him repay them by trying to take their scalps. The father, in the hospital bed, breaks down and sobs just before the two-minute mark.
