Farmers survey the damage near an overturned truck on a highway between Sanya and Haikou, Hainan province, on Monday. The truck, which was hauling 2 metric tons of melons, was going too fast on the wet downhill road when it struck the fence and overturned, local police said. No one was hurt in the accident.

No one was hurt??? Then why is the road flooded with the tears of watermelon mommas and poppas?

We haven’t done one of these outrageous road/dashcam videos in a while, so here’s a young man in Yongkong, Zhejiang province who goes on a little thrill ride. Count the traffic violations.

This happened in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province on Sunday. The pedestrian is a 50-year-old who is currently in the hospital undergoing treatment, reportedly fighting for his life.

Jaywalking is dangerous.

Eh, doesn’t seem like a problem. That road is only East Fourth Ring.

Or as People’s Daily Online so elegantly puts it: “A section of the side way of the East Fourth Ring Road in Beijing collapses on Dec. 16, 2013, causing a 10-meter crater from where white steam rises. At present the traffic is cut off and the road is under urgent repairs.”

On October 21, a truck towing nine of the same tow trucks in Kaili, Guizhou province careened into the side of a bridge on the Shanghai-Kunming Expressway and teetered on the brink of plummeting to the valley below. China Daily and Daily Mail both have pictures, with DM reporting that the driver had swerved to avoid a car that had cut him off.

These trucks… these trucks are not truckin’.

Thankfully, the driver and passenger both climbed out of the cab without injury.

SCMP has video of a wicked traffic accident in Hong Kong’s Central on Wednesday, reportedly on Garden Road. A blue truck carrying construction waste, for whatever reason, races around a bend, cutting off one car and ramming another before face-planting into a barricade and coming to a stop. Eight cars were damaged, including two Mercedes-Benzes. Two people were sent to the hospital.

It made me want to attach a song to it, so I went ahead and did that, a la the Traffic Light series. The song is “Hillbilly” by the Shan Ren Band (“Mountain Men,” i.e. Hillbilly; incredibly, the band doesn’t have an official English name).

Last month, we came across a video of a small child waiting with his father at an intersection. Just as a car was speeding down the road, the father wanted to pull the child across the street, but the kid had the good sense to hold him back. Jaywalking can be dangerous, after all, especially when you don’t look on both sides of the road.

How dangerous, exactly? A parent and child in Nanjing found out last week. Check out the video. The girl injured her spine and is still in the hospital; the mother fractured her legs.

Respect traffic rules, people.

Four bumper cars were loosed on the streets of Shanghai on Tuesday, which is almost as good a sight as an ostrich running away from a zoo.

Reports are that bumper car drivers are the employees of a local amusement park. Sina says that police are “investigating the traffic rule breach.”

By the way — definitely not the first time it’s happened. History repeats itself way too damn much.

Fourth Ring Road, apparently.

In Beijing’s Puhuangyu on Friday, a car ran someone over, and this is the aftermath. Look at all those people going to help.

No status yet on the man’s condition.

(Puhuangyu was where I was born, it so happens.)

Yesterday night around 9:16 pm, a white Lamborghini was found in flames on the side of East Fourth Ring Road near Dongfeng Bridge. The Jiuxianqiao fire department rushed onto the scene with three trucks, but the flames weren’t quenched until they completely and utterly destroyed this poor, precious vehicle.

Rubberneck hard and fast, people: you only get one look. Oh, and watch out for the explosions.

There were no casualties, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Some pictures via Xinhua:

Just a van in flames, nothing to see here. Black plumes like a soul fleeing from the pyre, what of it? Burning in the early Beijing morning, on Friday, burning and dripping flames.

The first time you watch this, you’ll likely not catch what exactly happens. Youku user Wanku, who posted the above video, certainly didn’t.

But after returning home and studying the footage, Wanku realized something: he/she saw a robbery happen in broad daylight, and in front of the city hall in Binhu district of Wuxi, Jiangsu province, no less.

Watch as the man in the black scooter approaches the woman from her blind side, reach out and grab something with his left hand, and speed off around the turn.

The woman is knocked off her bike and appears to slam her head against the ground. She never saw it coming.

Another woman on a scooter stops a few meters in front. The car that’s recording all this then begins to pull away, but it’s not to speed off. Wanku claims he/she got out of the car with the intent of helping the injured woman when he/she saw two passersby — a man and woman — who had already gone over and were calling for help.

It’s when Wanku got home that he/she saw the dastardly larceny. “If you require the original footage, you can get in touch,” Wanku writes.

We trust that the police have already done so.
