On October 21, a truck towing nine of the same tow trucks in Kaili, Guizhou province careened into the side of a bridge on the Shanghai-Kunming Expressway and teetered on the brink of plummeting to the valley below. China Daily and Daily Mail both have pictures, with DM reporting that the driver had swerved to avoid a car that had cut him off.
SCMP has video of a wicked traffic accident in Hong Kong's Central on Wednesday, reportedly on Garden Road. A blue truck carrying construction waste, for whatever reason, races around a bend, cutting off one car and ramming another before face-planting into a barricade and coming to a stop. Eight cars were damaged, including two Mercedes-Benzes.
Last month, we came across a video of a small child waiting with his father at an intersection. Just as a car was speeding down the road, the father wanted to pull the child across the street, but the kid had the good sense to hold him back. Jaywalking can be dangerous, after all, especially when you don't look on both sides of the road.
Yesterday night around 9:16 pm, a white Lamborghini was found in flames on the side of East Fourth Ring Road near Dongfeng Bridge. The Jiuxianqiao fire department rushed onto the scene with three trucks, but the flames weren't quenched until they completely and utterly destroyed this poor, precious vehicle.
The first time you watch this, you'll likely not catch what exactly happens. Youku user Wanku, who posted the above video, certainly didn't.
But after returning home and studying the footage, Wanku realized something: he/she saw a robbery happen in broad daylight, and in front of the city hall in Binhu district of Wuxi, Jiangsu province, no less.
Here's some rather harrowing footage of a bus crash in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province on August 2 around 9:52 am, as seen from inside the bus. Reports are that the driver was backing up on the highway (don't do that) when an oncoming semi plowed into it.
This is nice. In China -- undisclosed city, undisclosed time -- a driver saw an elderly woman walking slowly on the side of the street, and a water truck coming toward her from the other side. The sprayage would almost assuredly have soaked her, so the driver sped up, then parked the car between the oncoming truck and the woman. It's the road equivalent of laying a raincoat over a puddle so that a woman in heels can cross the road.
An 83-year-old man was riding bus No. 606 in Tianjin on the morning of May 22 when he missed his stop. Instead of doing what normal people might, which is to get off at the next stop and backtrack, he threw a massive fit, lost control, and berated the bus driver, "I didn't see you stop at all!"
And then the old man seized the driver by the shoulder while the bus was still moving -- something no one should do.
Ignore the 2010 timestamp. This video just appeared yesterday on Youku, titled, "Most insane motorcycle driver in history," and not only is that true, but this guy makes a good case for being history's funniest.
Big oops, as spotted by Car News China in Shanghai. A Ferrari FF drove into the back on a truck on a bicycle lane. Furthermore; the Ferrari was driven by a laowai (foreigner) with a laowai-chick on the passenger’s seat. It’s not as expensive an accident as a Lamborghini running into a Rolls Royce, but nonetheless… OOPS.
A collision between three vehicles on Linglong Road in Beijing on Monday evening resulted in rolling fireballs that consumed four cars, resulting in five injuries.
According to eyewitnesses, two Audis -- an A5 and A6 -- were "dueling" with one another on the road (or driving with a grudge, as it were). That might not mean street racing per se, but a degree of recklessness is implied. The A6 lost control first and rammed into another car, and the ensuing flames would engulf a fourth vehicle.
