Three Migrant Workers Dove Into Qingdao’s Typhoon-Induced Waves To Save A Drowning Tourist featured image
A tourist in Qingdao nearly lost her life last Thursday when she crept a bit too close to the seashore to take pictures and ended up getting swept away by powerful waves. Very luckily for her, three migrant workers dove in after her when no one else dared to. The dramatic rescue was caught on film by Liu Duo, who told a TV station (video embedded after the jump) that several people on shore saw the woman in trouble but no one thought they could beat the waves.

A young boy, identified as "10-some years old," nearly drowned a few days ago in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, and probably would have if not for a bit of serendipity and a young nurse who just happened to be passing by. Fetched from the water by his family, the boy was showing little signs of life when Wang Guoshuang began performing CPR on him. Interviewed afterwards, Wang says she had practiced CPR as an intern, but never performed it in real life. Apparently she was a good student: after several minutes, the boy was revived. He is now out of danger.

Yesterday, we posted about a pair of security guards who died while fighting off a mentally unstable man who charged into Guizhou Normal University brandishing a 70-centimeter knife. In our embedded video, a newscast via Sina, there was a clip taken by someone in a car showing a security guard getting stabbed. That part prompted someone to reply on Twitter, "How can a human being sit in a car and film w/o helping? Especially while he watched three people get stabbed. Unbelievable."
