A woman was stripped and beaten in public on Sunday morning in Lanzhou, Gansu province, just outside her residential compound, with her four-year-old daughter present. She was jumped by five women who were reportedly out to teach her a lesson for committing adultery. Hug China has the story:

Bus driver Mao Zhihao was leisurely driving down the road on Sunday, March 24 in Quzhou, Zhejiang province when HOLY CRAP WATCH OUT FOR THAT POLE!
Watch in the above as a streetlight crashes directly through the bus's windshield. The 44-year-old driver ducked in the nick of time, escaping death. Impressively, he also stopped the bus, ensuring that no passengers got hurt. For his efforts, some have bestowed upon him the "Most Beautiful" label.

An incredibly moving story out of the Guardian this morning. More than 40 years ago, during the height of the Cultural Revolution, Zhang Hongbing, only 16, denounced his mother for criticizing Mao Zedong. His mom, Fang Zhongmou, was tortured and summarily executed. She was only 44. Tania Branigan reports:
According to Xinhua, a knifeman in Shanghai's Fengxian District killed two of his female relatives with a knife yesterday afternoon before hitting the streets and wounding 11 random people on the street, including two children. Police said he arrived in Shanghai on Tuesday from Jiangsu province.
