Congratulations to BC&T, a Hangzhou-based advertising company that has created the most aggravatingly effective ad for Yangyuanqing, as brought to us by Ads of the World. Got an itchy scalp? You must have bees or ants on it, of course. Yet what does this ad actually communicate? No one likes being reminded of their afflictions, best... Read more »
People rioted in Luzhou, Sichuan province on Wednesday evening after they heard that police had beaten a truck driver to death in broad daylight. Tea Leaf Nation relayed several messages from incensed netizens who never doubted it, notably from a Sina Weibo user, @Aluo阿罗, who declared, “Luzhou police have beaten someone to death, causing tens of thousands... This bizarre and awkwardly beautiful sculpture appeared in Shiyan, Hubei province recently, titled something like “The Expression of Sex” (alternatively, “Sexual Expression,” or something to that effect). While considered outré by local standards, I believe its artistic merits justify the more vulgar elements, i.e. the flaunting flesh, for in this carving I see the contemporary acrobatics... Rappelling has never had a finer day.
On Tuesday afternoon, a fire department in Xining, Qinghai province in western China fielded a call about a man who was threatening to kill himself after a domestic dispute. When rescue workers arrived, they found him on the ledge of a bedroom window, both feet dangling outside, and clutching a two-year-old child in his arms. Was he planning on jumping with the toddler to make this a suicide-murder? And all because of a disagreement with his wife, as Xinhua reports?
Jon Huntsman, the one-time presidential hopeful and former US ambassador to China, has probably said more sensible things about China to more Americans in the last year than just about anyone in the world. It was only earlier this year, after all, that he trashed his own party’s approach to China, saying, “I don’t know what... Read more »
“If there are lessons to be learned from the sexpo, perhaps one is to be careful how you use your newly purchased toy,” notes RFH at the end of his story for Danwei about the Guangzhou Sex Culture Festival. If only this 30-year-old man in Shanghai had gotten the memo. A stomach-rumbling tale via Shanghai Daily: Doctors at Zhongshan Hospital... Read more »
