It’s easy for non-fathers to joke about what they’re going to do when they have kids, e.g., “When I’m a dad, I’m going to punt my kid around the house like he’s an Aussie football,” or, “I’m not going to spoil my kid, he’s going to sleep in a toolbox underneath the kitchen sink.” But... Read more »
Here’s a fun way to troll an entire city. In a country that forbids pornography, why not hook your laptop to an outdoor big screen and stream porn during evening rush hour? That’s exactly what one man did in Pingdingshan, Henan province on Tuesday, in what might be the greatest public prank China will see... Read more »
Paul Lung from Hong Kong is a self-described business design consultant, but judging by these pictures he drew — yes, drew, as in with a .5mm pencil — his talents are being misemployed. I don’t know, maybe he’s a freakin’ spectacular business design consultant. I do know, however, that he’s an absurdly awesome pencil artist, judging by... Read more »
Adults continue to be unable to resist doing noble things for young children in need. Danwei noted yesterday a story that made the front page of Today Morning News: on Monday evening, a man surnamed Liu heard the cries of a young boy outside. He then… …saw the boy dangling from a third-floor window of the... Read more »
Celestine Elebechi is the Nigerian who died in police custody on Monday, sparking a big protest the next day involving more than 100 Africans. BJC contributor Alicia found this video recently (more are beginning to appear on Youku). I'm particularly surprised by how brazen the protestors are, appearing to throw objects at the approaching police brigade. By all indications, the protest/mini-riot ended after only a few hours without many injuries, which is a blessing. Because judging by this snippet here, it could have been worse.

Scene: G20 Summit in Los Cabos, Mexico; as leaders walk off after their photo op, Chinese president Hu Jintao bends over to pick... Read more »
First, KATO!
No, not that Kato. Yoshikazu Kato.
He’s a Japanese writer who has written for the Financial Times, Oriental Outlook and… and… The Global Times?!
You don't know Yoshikazu? He’s the filthy Jap Devil who wants to steal/buy islands from the motherland.
The Atlantic is at it again with its photo slideshow of China, 47 stunning color images that have appeared at some point this year. Here they are, with seven samples after the jump. (H/T Alicia)
Update after jump. The monkeys on Mt. Emei near Chengdu are famous for their gregariousness. Never mind that behind those big, watery eyes is a scheming brain that tells its swift, prying fingers to reach into your pocket, grab that phone and chuck it off the ledge and into the river when it realizes it’s... We could tell you that the T Group part of the competition was won by Hu Shiqi... Read more »
