A friend was on a plane from Beijing to the western US recently when a 30-minute show about food trucks came on, an interlude for the in-flight entertainment. The show included a five-minute segment on Sugar Philly Truck, run by a guy whose schtick is he needs a date and thinks ladies love sugar (something like that). The airline segment included the guy making creme brulee and macaroons and, in my friend’s words, “gourmet cheesecake covered in blueberry compote scarfing Asian girls.” And also, “six ABC/Asian girls giggling and sharing spoons in the video, and one fat white girl awkwardly eating, and one black girl telling people to date him.”
