New Video From Monday’s Bus Crash Outside Beijing Shows Helpless Bystanders Screaming In Front Of Fiery Vehicle

We now know that the bus that crashed on the Beijing-Tianjin-Tangu Highway on Monday, killing five German passengers and one Chinese, was carrying a delegation of doctors and medical students from southern Bavaria. There were 19 German tourists plus their Chinese tour guide and driver.

The accident occurred when the bus apparently rear-ended a large shipping truck. Once the bus caught fire, there was really nothing anyone could do except run from the flames.

Here are some of the things that are said by helpless bystanders in the above video (on Youku for those in China after the jump):

“The driver’s a goner.”

“Have you called?” “Called. They’re almost here.”

“It’s over, it’s over.”

“Take off your clothes!”

The German ambassador to China, Michael Schaefer, apparently rushed to Tianjin, specifically Wuqing People’s Hospital, where the injured were taken.

Authorities are still investigating specific causes of the accident.
