Another Chinese City Rocked By Pipeline Explosion

For the second time three days, a pipeline ruptured in a Chinese city. On Sunday, it was a gas pipeline in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province that injured three people. Reports CCTV:

A witness who posted pictures of the explosion online, says it happened when a construction team working in the area ruptured an underground gas pipeline. The construction vehicle involved was caught in the flames.

On Friday, a ruptured oil pipeline killed 47 people and injured 136 in Qingdao, Shandong province on Friday. AP has this story:

Sinopec’s expansion of petrochemical projects has met with resistance from members of the public, and Friday’s blasts in the eastern port city of Quingdao will likely add to growing concern about safety and environmental risks. The accident was the deadliest involving Sinopec.

…Fu Chengyu, chairman of Sinopec, issued a public apology Saturday morning, according to a company statement. He said that Sinopec will collaborate with a State Council investigation group.

Let’s hope this doesn’t become a thing.
