We’re not sure why there’s a naked foreigner — a student, says People’s Daily — in the middle of a road in Haikou, Hainan province, but here he is, all sunglasses and sandals (Crocs?), minding his business.
“Staff from a local police station brought the man back and he was found with a blade in his mouth,” writes People’s Daily, which elucidates absolutely nothing.

This dude may be a douchebag. Maybe. He may be also trying to protest something, and now he has been degraded in the media as a “troublemaker/douchebag”.
This is one scenario where Chinese and Western netizens all agree to condemn and ridicule this guy – especially without knowing what actually happened in the case.
And when the details released about this case are scrutinized, it’s apparent that they don’t add up.
