Car Show Takes Chinese-Topless-Model Act To New Level: With Snakes

Organizers of an auto show in Guiyang, Guizhou province has decided hiring topless models isn’t enough to attract attention, since everyone is doing it. They’ve upped the ante with snakes.

We have no idea what cars are being displayed, but Car News China does. Pictures taken Thursday; more after the jump.

Are you sure this isn’t a subtle homage to Zhora, the replicant stripper character, in Blade Runner? See here for comparison photo:

Also, it’s very much the case that no Chinese city can consider itself as having ‘made it’ until it’s been compared to Blade Runner’s Los Angeles, anyway, it would make perfect sense for Guiyang to make subtle allusions. Or something like that.

I am not complaining neither am I being prudish, but what is happening in China? How long before car shows or online game shows are held in huge strip joints? It’s weirdly entertaining.

Under a fascist socioeconomic formation, be it in China, the US or the UK, the masses require “bread and circuses” for purposes of distraction, or to localize the metaphor, “rice and pasties.”
