Wow, not only is this shit not funny, it’s borderline racist.

      @Laowaicomicsguy:

We know you give us this for free, but we have absolutely no objection to you stopping.

It’s not racist. Many Chinese people wear glasses, have the same haircut, same clothes etc.

It’s one of those situations where you want to be enlightened but at the same time … youse all look the same!

“We know you give us this for free, but we have absolutely no objection to you stopping.”

I feel the exact same way about your weekly comments.

Except that I’d say “I” instead of “we”, since I’m not some pompous asshole who thinks he talks for everybody else

Perhaps I shouldn’t speak for everyone, that’s awfully “CCP” of me (oh no, you hurt the feelings of the Chinese people!) but you’re someone who thinks he is doing the world a favour by turning out the weekly turd.

I had no strong objections to your rubbish, I never found it funny and respect the people who do, but now… no, I have no further respect. Before it was simply ridiculously bland – like the comic equivalent of Ryvita, now it’s like a Ryvita David Laris has wiped with and told you is worth 1000 RMB.

Who says anything about doing the world a favor? It’s a comic. It stops and ends there. Why do you even make the effort to trash it week after week? Some people like it, you don’t. Who cares?

Clearly you’ve never been in this situation.

        Imagine yourself in this situation:

You haven’t seen the person in a year, you didn’t remember to ask them what they are wearing, and when you get to the gate, every person has identical hair and eye color, and they are all of similar height.

Those are the facts of the situation, and not a one of those facts is even a tiny bit racist.

Never go full retard man…this is painfully awkward even by your standards. How long have you been in China? If you can’t distinguish people try glasses or lenses.

Haha!! It’s so funny because it’s so true! Chinamen DO all look the same!

(ps – next time give them all big protruding teeth….)

There’s nothing really wrong with the subject matter here per se. Yes, there is a line in terms of racism and this comic has crossed over said line, but only marginally so. Nearly every expat in China that isn’t of Asian descent has more or less thought this at one point. Where the comic fails is not that it has crossed over the race line, but that the writer has crossed that line and failed to make an appropriately grandiose exaggeration on the situation that would make it funny. George Carlin put it best in his routine “Rape Can be Funny”:

“I believe you can joke about anything. It all depends on how you construct the joke. What the exaggeration is. What the exaggeration is. Because every joke needs one exaggeration. Every joke needs one thing to be way out of proportion.”

The only joke is the fact that someone wastes their time on this utter utter unfunny tripe. Lets see some comics about jews and how lazy they are and how big their noses are.
