CCTV Anchor: “We Kicked Out That Foreign Bitch And Closed Al-Jazeera’s Beijing Bureau”

Yang Rui — who makes a career out of speaking to foreigners on the show CCTV Dialogue (where I pulled the above image) — posted this on Sina Weibo (Chinese after jump) on Wednesday evening, translated by WSJ:

The Public Security Bureau wants to clean out the foreign trash: To arrest foreign thugs and protect innocent girls, they need to concentrate on the disaster zones in [student district] Wudaokou and [drinking district] Sanlitun. Cut off the foreign snake heads. People who can’t find jobs in the U.S. and Europe come to China to grab our money, engage in human trafficking and spread deceitful lies to encourage emigration. Foreign spies seek out Chinese girls to mask their espionage and pretend to be tourists while compiling maps and GPS data for Japan, Korea and the West. We kicked out that foreign bitch and closed Al-Jazeera’s Beijing bureau. We should shut up those who demonize China and send them packing.

I’ll just go ahead and let that simmer. If you’re looking for reactions, see: China Geeks, Sinostand.

This guy is awesome, right down to the faux British accent. He is just another Si Ma Nan, who was exposed as a spectacular fraud after it was revealed that #1 critic of the US in China had sent his family (and his money) there. Yang and other pseudo-intellectuals are just like the nationalists popping up all over Europe these days, and in the US a few years ago. They drown out the more thoughful commentators. If you think Yang’s rant against foreigners was something, you should see (and fear) what the online mob in China does to its own nationals when they voice unpopular views.

I’m very impressed by the quality of English and intellectual analysis for the large part when it comes to CCTV news anchors like Yang Rui, Tian Wei, Zou Yue and all the CCTV-9 team members. The translation of Yang Rui’s statement by Josh Chin was in fact poorly done and exaggerated to a point where “foreign bitches” (both the female and male, international and local varieties) felt unnecessarily slighted, even losing face due to a guilty-conscience they should not even need to worry about if they understand that foreign “free media” is exactly as Yang Rui describes: out to demonize China. Yang Rui was quite accurate in his assessment of these uncouth foreign individuals and their “running dogs” out to manipulate their much vaunted “free press” to demonize China.

May Yang Rui enjoy many more years of success as an oversight of the so-called foreign “free press” and international discussions on political issues.
