The Situation Is Excellent: The Week That Was At Beijing Cream

September 23 – September 29

Li Tianyi was sentenced to 10 years in jail for gang rape. A 16-year-old was briefly detained for spreading a “rumor.” Here’s the iPee, i.e. a kid peeing inside an Apple store in Hong Kong.

Some are rethinking China’s capital punishment after the execution of street vendor Xia Junfeng, writes Alia. A father contracted rabies after sucking the poison out of his son’s dog-bitten leg. Failed beard implant makes guy really upset.

Irony alert: World Car Free Day wasn’t particularly observed in Beijing. Two girls died mysteriously… in a washing machine? Watch this latest Foxconn brawl.

Beige Wind’s latest Dispatch from Xinjiang is about Adili Wuxor the tightrope walker. The rubber duck is in Taiwan (and Beijing). Holy crap, big wasps.

Comment of the Week:

Fascinating that the capital punishment debate in China should apparently focus not on the morality of killing or the question of proof, but on the equality of application. Would be fascinating to see more detailed study of this.
